Nine Master Gardeners received their certificates at our December meeting. There was a delicious lunch, lots of socializing, a slideshow of the students' gardening events, and fun door prizes. Each student not only got their completion certificate, but Courtney Keck, our Extension Horticulturist, presented every single one with a special award certificate tailored to their personality. This is a graduation tradition and is always a lot of fun.
These students completed sixty hours of coursework in 2021 and at least 30 hours of phone duty and 30 hours of Master Gardener committee work during 2022. Many of them went far beyond this number of hours. The committees they worked with were Education, Fundraising, Hospitality, Public Relations, and Garden Projects. Nine interns collectively completed 939.4 hours of service this year!
Congratulations to David Bostic (not pictured), Teena Damron, Angie Hunter, Frank Jenkins, Cindy Lawrence, Paula McCann, Susan McGregor, Carol Smith, and Dolly Tennery!
Lunch was catered by Klein's Catering of Perry, Oklahoma, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. There was also a special garden-themed cake made by Sherri Randell of https://www.facebook.com/cakecookieetc .
Vice-President Karen Tinsley chaired the Decorating Committee this year and they did an outstanding job making the Education Building look fun and festive!
